The organisational chart of the Department of theTreasury is defined by the Dpcm (Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers) no. 125 of 26 July 2023. The competences and organisation of the individual structures are laid down in the DM (Ministerial Decree) of 7 August 2024.

Office I
General affairs and secretariat. Support for management functions and pre-legislative activity in matters falling within the Directorate's remit. Definition of the Directorate's needs, in synergy with the Department's offices in charge of cross-departmental functions. Supporting the financial management of staff assigned to the Directorate. Coordination of the Directorate's contributions to strategic projects of the Department of the Treasury. Administrative twinnings and international cooperation. Coordination and promotion of the presence of Italian staff in EU institutions and bodies. Relations with the Italian and European Parliament for matters falling within the Directorate's remit. Preparatory and support activities for the Minister's hearings at the Italian Parliament for matters falling within the Directorate's area of responsibility. Coordination of expertise contributions to the programming and final report on Italy's participation in the EU. Management of conventions and contracts with external parties in matters falling within the competence of the Directorate in liaison with the competent offices. Relations with international organisations for legal, administrative and accounting matters within the Directorate's area of responsibility.
Office II
Preparation for and follow-up to the work of the Economic and Financial Committee Alternates and of the Eurogroup Working Group Alternates, the Economic and Financial Committee and of the Eurogroup Working Group, the Council of Finance Ministers, the Eurogroup, the European Council and related activities, including participation in meetings. Coordination of activities and relations with State administrations, Italian and foreign bodies and organisations in matters of competence related to Italy's participation in these groups. Coordination of the Directorate's activities in relation to European economic, monetary and financial affairs. Support activities to the Head of the Directorate and the Director General of the Treasury in their institutional functions in the areas of competence. Contribution to the analysis of issues related to macroeconomic and fiscal supervision of the countries of the European Union and the euro area as a whole and to the strengthening of economic and monetary union. Analysis and support on European legislative negotiations in the areas of competence. Support for matters falling within its remit in the drafting of the MEF's economic planning documents. Relations with the European Commission and the other European institutions and bodies in the areas of responsibility. Coordination of written procedures initiated by the Council of the European Union in matters within the competence of the Directorate. Contribution to the drafting of position papers and research activities on topics within the Office's remit. Participation in inter-institutional working groups and representation of the Head of the Directorate at external events.
Office III
Preparation and follow-up of the work of the Economic Policy Committee (EPC), including supporting the Head of the Directorate and the Director General of the Treasury in defining Italy's position and attending meetings. Liaison activities between the EPC and the other ECOFIN committees; coordination of Italy's position in the EPC subcommittees. Support for matters falling within its remit in the drafting of the MEF's economic planning documents. Relations with State administrations, Italian and foreign bodies and organisations in matters of competence related to Italy's participation in this Committee. Analyses relating to the functioning of the internal market, the impact, including comparative impact, of EU policies, the coherence between macroeconomic and structural policies and the related coordination of the Directorate's activities. Relations with the European Commission in relation to technical assistance activities in support of structural reforms and coordination in the preparation and submission of requests for support in matters falling within the competence of the Department of the Treasury. Analysis and support on European legislative negotiations in the areas of competence. Contribution to the drafting of position papers and research activities on topics within the Office's remit. Support for activities related to the European Recovery and Resilience Programmes in the areas of competence of the Directorate, with particular reference to the work carried out by the EPC in this field. Participation in inter-institutional working groups and representation of the Head of the Directorate at external events.
Office IV
Economic and institutional analysis of the functioning and in-depth examination of the EU and Economic and Monetary Union, European investment policies and the European integration process. Analysis of the ECB's monetary policy, the euro exchange rate, the EMS2 and the euro adoption process. Preparation of the work of the Statistics Subcommittee of the Economic and Financial Committee, including participation in meetings. Coordination of activities and relations with State administrations, Italian and foreign bodies and organisations in matters of competence related to Italy's participation in such Subcommittee. Support for matters falling within its remit in the drafting of the MEF's economic planning documents. Coordination and preparation of position papers, research activities, contributions to articles and speeches. Relations with Bruegel and other think tanks, universities, research centres. Contribution on the relevant subjects to meetings of the OECD WP3 and Economic and Development Review Committee (EDRC) and participation in meetings relating to EU countries. Analysis and support on European legislative negotiations in the areas of competence. Supporting the Directorate's work in relations with international bodies, in particular the IMF, OECD, and rating agencies. Participation in inter-institutional working groups and representation of the Head of the Directorate at external events. Coordination of the Directorate's activities in relation to matters falling within its area of responsibility.
Office V
Analysis, coordination and contribution to activities related to the European Semester process. Analysis, coordination and contribution to activities related to fiscal supervision procedures, macroeconomic imbalances and economic policy coordination of EU countries. Analysis and monitoring of the economic policies of EU countries as well as the economic policies of the euro area as a whole. Coordination of the Directorate's activities in relation to matters falling within its area of responsibility. Contribution to the drafting of position papers and research activities on topics within the Office's remit. Analysis and support on European legislative negotiations in the areas of competence. Participation in inter-institutional working groups and representation of the Head of the Directorate at external events. Office VI
Activities related to the functioning of the European Stability Mechanism and the European Financial Stability Facility. Preparation of the work of the governing bodies and subcommittees of the European Financial Stability Mechanisms and related activities, including participation in meetings. Analysis and support activities related to financial assistance programmes in euro area, EU and non-EU countries. Participation in the Task Force on Coordinated Action. For matters falling within the Directorate's remit, coordination of activities related to European financial support programmes. Office VII
Bilateral relations with EU countries and institutions, including embassies. Relations with candidate and EFTA countries. Relations with the current Presidency of the Council of the European Union and with Italy's representations to European institutions and bodies. Analysis of EU accession processes, the European Economic Area and other arrangements with the EU (Brexit). Coordination of activities related to the preparation of bilateral meetings of the Director General of the Treasury and the Minister, for matters falling within the competence of the Directorate. Participation in the technical round tables held at the CIAE for the coordination of Italy's position both prior to and after legislative acts drafted at the EU level, as well as related intra- and inter-directorate coordination. Monitoring the progress of European legislative negotiations and coordinating the Directorate's related contributions. Relations with state administrations, Italian and foreign bodies and organisations in the areas of competence. Office VIII
Coordination and preparation of the Directorate's activities in relation to European recovery and resilience programmes. Economic and financial analysis of the EU's financial instruments. Relations with the European Commission and other European institutions and bodies in the areas of responsibility.
