Category: Climate physical risk
Risk type: Flood
Indicator: Area at (low to high) flood risk
Provider: ISPRA

Areas that can be flooded according to the considered flood probability scenario. The probability with which a certain area can be flooded determines the level of hazard associated with that area. Areas that are most likely to be flooded are those where floods occur most frequently and therefore are the most hazardous. The hazard level depends on the probability with which the area can be flooded: areas that are frequently flooded, therefore highly hazardous, associated with a scenario of high probability of flooding; areas flooded with a medium frequency, therefore of medium hazard, associated with a medium probability scenario; areas that are rarely flooded, therefore of low hazard, associated with a low probability scenario.
