The indicator is based on the data provided by Italy for the periodic reporting required of Member States by art. 17 of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC), one of the main pillars of community policy for nature conservation. The sheet contains monitoring data carried out by the regions and autonomous provinces and highlights the overall state of conservation found for the terrestrial and inland water habitats present on the national territory and the distribution of the state of conservation in the Italian biogeographical regions.
