The indicator describes the trend in the percentage and number of fish stocks in a state of overfishing, i.e. subject to a fishing-induced mortality greater than that corresponding to the Maximum Sustainable Yield (FMSY or its proxy, F0.1, EMSY=0.4, or other parameter proposed through stock assessment).
