The Ministry of Economy and Finance has recognised the need to mobilise resources, public and private, for sustainable investments, along with the urgency and importance of defining responses to the challenges posed by climate change. In 2021, the Ministry placed sustainability at the heart of its G20 Presidency agenda, promoting the re-establishment of a study group dedicated to sustainable finance, as part of the Finance Track, and then upgrading it to a working group. The Sustainable Finance Working Group was tasked with defining a Roadmap, with actions and objectives to be pursued, that will guide the development of the G20 agenda in the coming years on sustainable finance. Looking at the European dimension, the Department of the Treasury actively contributes to the processes of drafting and negotiating sector regulations related to the European Commission's Sustainable Finance Action Plan in the broader context of the European Green Deal. At the national level, the Department is engaged in initiatives related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which provides for an allocation of almost €60 billion for the mission “Green Revolution and Ecological Transition”.
