Within the framework of the traditional Brown Bag Lunch Meetings promoted by the Directorate I - Economic and Financial Analysis and Research of the Department of the Treasury, the seminar on the topic of inflation forecasting "The impact of monetary policy on functional income distribution: a panel SVAR analysis (1970-2019)”, was held today, 29 January, attended by Stefano Di Bucchianico (University of Salerno) and Antonino Lofaro (University of Roma Tre).

The contribution discussed during the meeting focuses on the link between monetary policy and inequality, exploring how monetary policy can shape functional income distribution. For the first time, a panel SVAR methodology was used on a new panel dataset of 15 advanced economies over the period 1970-2019. A further objective of the presented work is to focus on the 'costs' and 'labour market' channels of monetary policy.

The Brown Bag Lunch Meeting of the Department of the Treasury are short technical seminars on economic research topics of relevant institutional and scientific interest, aimed at fostering debate among experts in both the public and private sector.
